Corinthians, is one of Pauls longer books. The
Church in Corinth was established by Paul in about 51-52 AD (Acts
18).
Paul wrote the book of 1 Corinthians
in about 56-57 AD along with Sosthenes our brother (1 Corinthians 1:1) from
the city of Ephesus. It is addressed to the church of God which is
at Corinth
(1 Corinthians 1:2) and he refers to the Christians there
as saints.
It deals with the topic of solving
division and disorderly conduct.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Romans, along with Galatians
has been misunderstood by many. Martin Luther, John Wesley,
and others have come to this book with preconceived ideas and
left it with what they thought was support for their
false doctrines. But coming to Romans with an honest and
sincere heart, open to the will of God, one comes away understanding
the relationship that we have with Christ. The righteousness
of God is seen in this letter and as Romans 6 shows it is through
baptism that we enter the newness of life that we must have to
be saved.
Paul here is writing to congregations
in the city of Rome that he has never visited, but shows in chapter
16 that he is not unfamiliar with a number of Christians in the
city. Paul describes himself as a bond-servant of Christ
Jesus and as
an
apostle in
Romans 1:1.
This letter was probably written
from Corinth in about 57-58 AD and ties in with Acts 19-23. As
noted in Galatians, Paul wrote that letter himself, but a more
common method would have been for Paul to use a writer to record
as he spoke the message. At least that is what seems to
be the case here as we note in Romans 16:22.
