We have considered why there are
two testaments in the Bible and that Jesus of Nazareth claims
to have a kingdom, ruling it with the New Covenant. Perhaps
we should ask, Just who is Jesus of Nazareth? and
How do we know that He is God and has a kingdom?
Is Jesus really God, or a myth or mere man?
That Jesus of Nazareth has had
a long standing influence on mankind, needs little explanation,
as it is evident by the worlds calendar dated from
His birth over 2000 years ago. Fully one third of the worlds
population acknowledges Jesus as a real person and as their religious
leader. Yet many do not believe He ever existed and many,
if not most people do not believe that He is God that
He is just a myth, or was only a mere man. Indeed, every
person should honestly and intelligently examine the question
Was Jesus of Nazareth just a man or is he just a myth or
is He really the living God? If he is myth or just
a man, we must question why the world thought so much of him
to date time from his birth. If Jesus of Nazareth is God,
His teachings indicate eternally wonderful or tragic consequences
for each person who ever lived, thus would deserve our attention
to what he taught.
Was Jesus of Nazareth a real historical
character or just a myth? If he was man, was he also God
at the same time? If He was God, did He actually die on
the cross and then rise from the dead? These questions
must be answered in order for a person determine if Jesus is
God. If the answer is no and sustained by proof, then only
fools would follow him and suffer as his followers have through
the last two millennia. If the answer is yes, then each
of us, individually, must consider following Him according to
the New Testament so as to inherit eternal life (Romans 6:22-23).
The other option is to live as we please and thus inheriting
an unthinkable eternal punishment, as Jesus promises will be
at the end of time as we know it (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9).
